Ways you can acquire your tools & supplies:

4. Or, You can print this list and use it for collecting class supplies at your local stained glass retailer.

**please note: if you choose your own pattern, PLEASE let the instructor see it first. There is no need for you to become needlessly stressed on your first stained glass project. Remember, there are a world of options available to you once you have acquired the basic skills in your online class experience!**

The Kaleidoscope Stained Glass reserves the right to substitute items based on availability of brands. A comparable item will always be shipped if substitution is necessary. Any difference in price will be refunded to the customer. Items can only be shipped within the continental U.S.

You may select this pre-determined pattern, or contact the instructor for help with choosing your own pattern. Remember, after you have completed your first project, you will have a whole world of pattern and glass colors and textures to choose from! The instructor has intentionally selected this pattern due to it's simplicity and line properties.

You will receive 2.5 square ft. of Spectrum Clear Waterglass, 1/2 sq. Ft. of Spectrum Ruby Red Rough Rolled Glass and 1 sq. Ft. of Spectrum Rough Rolled Medium Green Glass. You will also receive 4 small sheets of clear pane glass to practice on.

Another cutter may be chosen at your discretion. This is the instructor's cutter of choice. Any pistol-grip styled cutter is especially helpful for those who have arthritis or carpel tunnel syndrome.

You may use copper-backed or black-backed foil if you plan on purchasing and using a similarly-toned patina on the finished solder seams. Otherwise, stick with a silver-backed foil.

Wooden Clothespin Crimper

An inexpensive tool for crimping
& burnishing the copper foil to
the glass

You may use a popsicle stick or similar tool with which to burnish your foil. With the clothespin, you can squeeze the prongs to get both sides.

If you choose a different soldering iron, please be sure that it is made especially for stained glass. It should be a 100 watt iron with some type of temperature control and a wide (at least 3/16" chisel tip).

If your iron does not have a sturdy stand, consider investing in safety and purchasing one. The irons are very hot and pose a serious burn/fire hazard.

You may use other types of solder made for stained glass work such as: 50/50, 63-37, or Lead Free. The numbers represent the amount of tin/lead ratios. 60/40 solder will flow easily and melts quickly. Do NOT use a rosin core (electrician's) solder.
