Hi Fellow Stained Glass Enthusiast!

My name is Jennifer Austin. I have been working in stained glass since 1995. I received instruction in the copper foil method at the former Stained Glass Art Design Studios in Durham, NC. Advanced instruction in the Leading Method was acquired through the Durham Arts Council School. I hold a diploma in Interior Decorating conferred by The Professional School of Interior Decorating, Atlanta, Ga.

I opened up my studio to students for the first time in the Fall of 2000. Since that time, I have taught more than 150 students. I teach a variety of stained glass courses at my studio and also on the Pittsboro, NC campus of Central Carolina Community College and at The ArtSchool of The Carrboro ArtsCenter in Carrboro, NC.

Currently, I am taking a sabbatical from classroom teaching in order to have more time with my young children. I also need to limit my exposure to the metals and chemicals involved in the stained glass craft for a short period of time because of their ages. The summer of 2005 marks a milestone in my teaching career with the offering of online stained glass classes. I am hoping to offer a much-needed resource for online students unable to find instruction elsewhere while also satisfying my own desire to teach and be in contact with the stained glass creative process, albeit indirect contact!
